2015 Ford Focus

Although it has maintained a similar signature design heritage, the 2015 Ford Focus has received a thorough refresh to put it in line with the likes of the new Fusion. More advanced safety features have been added, as well as a swift and fuel-efficient new powertrain option.

  • Performance: Power comes from a standard 2.0L four-cylinder that pumps out 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque, while the new EcoBoost 1.0L turbocharged three-cylinder engine gets 123 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy comes in at up to 40 mpg highway on both powertrains, while city numbers come in at 27 mpg and 29 mpg, respectively. There's also a high-performance option in the form of the Focus ST and an all-electric powertrain on the Focus Electric.
  • Features: The new Focus comes with a cabin stacked with high-quality soft touch materials, and all versions get Ford's SYNC system with voice-activated phone and audio via Bluetooth as well as a rearview camera. Advanced features include premium leather upholstery, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a premium ten-speaker Stony stereo. Safety features range from a blind-spot warning to rear cross-traffic alerts.

The 2015 Ford Focus is a pleasure to drive, and critics across the industry agree.

  • Edmunds: "The 2015 Ford Focus is one of the more entertaining economy cars to drive around turns, particularly if you have the Titanium model with the optional 18-inch wheels and low-profile tires. Yet the Focus is also smooth-riding and quiet on the highway."
  • Left Lane News: "The Ford Focus is one of the top offerings in the compact segment thanks to precise, enjoyable handling, a useful array of high-tech features and a refined interior."
  • U.S. News and World Report: "Lively handling, first-rate interior materials and a sophisticated cabin are hallmarks of the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus that win reviewers over."

2016 Ford Focus

Because the 2015 Ford Focus received a significant overhaul, the 2016 version should remain on par with the current model. It isn't out of the question, though, that Ford could move some of features around to provide even more standard fare on S and SE models.

What we do know, though, is that a high-performance version of the Focus is in the works in the form of the 2016 Ford Focus RS. While Ford hasn't made official the specs and features on this model yet, its recent unveiling in Germany provides plenty to chew on. Look for this model to come with standard all-wheel drive powered by a robust turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost inline-four that could produce excess of 300 horsepower and sprint to 60 mph in less than five seconds.
