2015 Ford Focus vs 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

2015 Focus

The 2015 Ford Focus recently underwent a thorough update, making a great car even better. It now has a more stylish exterior and more functional interior, a fuel-efficient engine option, and a host of new technologies. If you're looking for a compact sedan that supplies everything you want in a car at a price you can afford, count on the latest Focus to meet your needs. Find out how this exciting car compares to the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze, then head from Schaumburg to check the Focus out in person at Arlington Heights Ford.

Performance

The 2015 Ford Focus is proof that the compact sedan segment can deliver practical economy while still being fun to drive. The standard engine is a 2.0L four-cylinder that delivers a commanding 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. The Cruze's standard engine is a 1.8L four-cylinder that puts out just 138 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel Economy

If you want to spend less on gas month in and month out, the fuel-efficient Ford Focus lineup has an option for you:

  • 2015 Ford Focus MPG: When equipped with the standard 2.0L engine, fuel efficiency is rated at up to an impressive EPA-estimated 27 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. The Focus also offers an all-electric option that can travel 76 miles with no gas at all.
  •
  • 2015 Chevy Cruze MPG: When equipped with the standard 1.8L engine, fuel efficiency is rated at a disappointing 22 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. The Cruze is not available with an all-electric powertrain.

Cargo Space

When you have a big load to carry, you'll find more room to fit everything in with the 2015 Ford Focus. The Focus is the only one of these two cars available in a hatchback configuration, which offers up 23.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seats and a full 44.8 cubic feet of space when the back seats are folded down.

Available cargo capacity in the Cruze tops out at 15.0 cubic feet, since there's no available hatchback version. With the diesel version that number drops to 13.3 cubic feet.

Safety

The important IIHS small-overlap frontal-offset test measures how well a car performs in a common and extremely dangerous kind of collision. The Focus held up significantly better. The IIHS gave the Focus the second-highest rating of "Acceptable" while the Cruze received the second lowest rating of "Marginal."
